Andromeda Galaxy

Kimra and I traveled to a really good dark sky site only an hour away to see the Perseids this year. We saw some good meteors, and I took the opportunity to get a better picture of our neighbor M31.

Supernova in M82

Some of you may have read about the (relatively) close supernova that was observed last week.  Timing was good for me, as the moon is waning and rising later, and I was considering my next target.  So without further ado, here’s the Cigar Galaxy lit up by its exploding star SN 2014J, taken last night.  ISO1600/80s/2032mm/f10

Mendocino Stargazing

Spent the weekend in Mendocino where the sky’s were clear, except for some moisture in the air.  It gave a good test of the barn door setup.
